Jolene is (temporarily) home. My fellow car-enthusiast friend from Michigan was in Louisville, so he came by to visit and take her for a spin. We also hooked up my Amazon-special GM OBD-1 “code reader” regarding the intermittent “check engine” light. Code 13 is what it gave. A.K.A. oxygen sensor. The car only has one sensor and it’s $13 on RockAuto, so I’ll give that a try.
And Jolene is at my house now instead of at my friend’s garage (where she normally lives) because my almost three-year-old son fell asleep while we were driving around and it was easier just to come home than move him from car-to-car. Parents, you understand.

It’s so warm and dry in Montana that I may break out the Datsun tomorrow.

Never assume an O2 code is caused by a bad O2 sensor.
In fact, I’ve never had a CEL from a bad O2 sensor, it’s always another issue causing the O2 to read out of range which throws the code.
MAP/MAF failing, TPS failing, FPR failing will all cause an O2 code as they cause the A/F to fall out of “normal” which lights the CEL.

I figured as much. I’m gonna go ahead and replace the sensor, though, since a replacement is so cheap and the one on there seems to be cracked.

Hope it works.
If it’s cracked you may actually have the one case of the O2 actually being the issue!

You should register that car with all those “Car Pimps” the production companies call when they need period-correct cars for shoots.
Lots of 90’s pieces being shot and the sunbird was such a popular car for the time. I can’t imagine there’s many left in nice shape like that. Even less registered for the films.

I’ve thought about it. It would be cool to see my car in a show. But, being in Kentucky, I’m far AF from...well, everything.
